About Mediate Mzansi
Mediate Mzansi NPC aims to fill a need often identified, but not serviced by any other organisation, platform or company.
We intend to bridge the gap between the need for mediation and the actual use of mediation, we aim to broaden the uptake of mediation among the general public by doing community information and education talks about mediation, carrying the message of dispute resolution through mediation out to the people most in need of such a service.
We further that by offering mediation services to the public at a rate that is affordable and in locations that are accessible.
Finally, we aim to facilitate the ethical growth of the mediation sector and ensure that our clients receive the best possible mediation services by offering a mentorship program to qualified mediators who need to gain practical experience.

Nerena
Nerena earned a BA degree from the University of Pretoria and served in the armed forces for five years as an intelligence officer, managing international conflict desks for the Rwanda genocide, the Bosnia war, and international refugee matters. After her military service, she worked as a committee secretary for the Safety in Mines Research Advisory Committee (SIMRAC).
She spent 9 years in Abu Dhabi and 6 years in Bahrain, teaching adult English in the evenings and kindergarten in the mornings. After returning to South Africa, Nerena focused on raising her two children. Once they became independent, she pursued her passion for mediation, joining HW Mediators and eventually co-founding Mediate Mzansi to address the need for affordable and accessible mediation services.

From the merchant navy and the army to teaching law and business around the world, Martin’s journey has been diverse and full of adventure. After practicing law and teaching at VUT, he discovered his true calling: mediation. He believes that many people live in conflict without realizing they have options for peace. Martin is passionate about helping others find better ways to resolve their disputes, particularly when children are affected. Now, he dedicates himself to showing people how mediation can improve their lives, regardless of their background or income.
Emcé
Emcé began her career in the banking sector before transitioning to a role as a personal assistant and draughtsperson for a land surveyor. After four years in that position, she chose to focus on her family, becoming a stay-at-home mom for 20 years while also pursuing a BComm degree.
Once her children became more independent, Emcé returned to the workforce, taking on an administrative role at Stellenbosch University, where she worked for 19 years until her retirement in 2018. After four years of enjoying retirement, she sought new opportunities to stay active and engaged, which led her to discover mediation.
Completing a mediation course sparked her passion for helping people resolve conflicts peacefully. She gained practical experience by sitting in on mediation sessions and soon joined the Mediate Mzansi team. Thrilled to be part of an initiative that aligns with her values. Emcé is excited to contribute to making mediation more accessible and impactful.
